Raw Urushi and Powders
Raw Urushi
Natural sap harvested from the urushi tree. Only about 200g can be collected from a single tree that has been cultivated for around 20 years, making it a precious material. Used as the base for restoration.
Wood Powder
Dried wood ground into a fine powder. Used to make kokuso-urushi, which fills in missing areas and builds the foundation layer.
Polishing Powder
A fine mineral powder made from crushed whetstones. Used to make sabi-urushi, which fills small gaps and uneven surfaces.
Bengala Powder
A reddish-brown pigment composed mainly of iron oxide. Used to make bengara-urushi, applied before the final finish.
Black Powder
A carbon-based black pigment. Mixed with lacquer to create kuro-urushi, used for the middle coat.
Gold and Silver Powder
In addition to classic gold powder, this kit also includes silver powder. This not only allows you to repair more pieces, but also lets you enjoy a variety of finishes.

CAUTION
This kit uses raw urushi lacquer, a traditional material used in authentic kintsugi.
Raw urushi is a natural substance made from the sap of the lacquer tree. Please note that contact with uncured lacquer may cause urushi-rash. Symptoms can include intense itching, rashes, redness, swelling, or blistering.
Always wear nitrile gloves during the process and avoid exposing bare skin.
If urushi comes into contact with your skin, promptly wipe it off with oil and wash the area thoroughly with soap and lukewarm water. If symptoms worsen or do not subside, seek medical care immediately.
Please note that we assume no responsibility for any allergic reactions or skin irritation (urushi-rash) caused by urushi.

Yes, it is perfect for complete beginners. The kit includes a comprehensive guidebook in English, complete with step-by-step instructions, allowing even first-timer users to enjoy the process with confidence.
Can I use the repaired vessel for eating and drinking?
Yes. Since we use traditional natural urushi lacquer, the vessel is food-safe once completely cured. However, please avoid using it in microwaves, ovens, dishwashers, or other high-heat appliances.
Can I use this kit to repair my own broken pieces?
Yes, the tools included in the kit are reusable. Even if you run out of gold powder, you can continue your repairs using the included silver powder.
